Bhati village locals long for regular supply of running water

SANGUEM: The villagers of Villian, Bombdimoll and Kumari wards of Bhati Village Panchayat in Sanguem continue to await regular drinking water supply even after a week of the failure of pumping operations in the bore well in the village.

With the authorities unable to repair and restart the fourth pump installed in the bore well, the PWD made provisions to supply drinking water to the villagers through water tankers.

For other domestic chores, the villagers were forced to fetch water from the nearby river or well located around a kilometre away from the village.

Villager Anil Kakodkar alleged that the Department’s efforts to provide water from an alternate source also have failed as the water supply was muddy and not potable.

Kakodkar said that a group of villagers had made another representation to the PWD a few days ago, and the authorities assured them that regular water supply would resume to these villages by Monday. Some villagers are now receiving water through tankers, while alternate water supply has been made available to the others, but only for a few hours each day.
