RAIA: Dicarpale SC won over SCS Poitomado, Cuncolim, with a 6-5 victory in the tie-breaker, securing their spot in the semi-finals of the 2nd Fr Bruno Leitao Memorial Cup 2024, organised by the Union of Chinchinim Villagers, played at the Chinchinim Church ground, on Saturday.
From the start, Poitomado launched an attack through Daulat Dessai, but Dicarpale’s defense held firm. Poitomado then switched strategies, utilising the flanks, and in the 20th minute, a header from Viraj Velip was saved by Dicarpale’s goalkeeper. The game largely played out in the midfield, with both teams’ defenders performing well. In the 26th minute, a powerful shot from William Niasso was parried by Poitomado’s goalkeeper. The first half ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
In the second half, both teams continued to press for a goal, but the goalkeepers made several spectacular saves, maintaining clean sheets.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Dicarpale SC saw successful conversions from William Niasso, Sahil Inmadhar, Aeren Figurado, Royson Colaco, Prince Figurado, and Agnelo Colaco. SCS Poitomado’s scorers were Dailon Carvalho, Bradly Carvalho, Viraj Velip, Alister Fernandes, and Vinod Velip.
Royson Colaco of Dicarpale SC was awarded the player of the match by Mario Vales, PE teacher of Mount Marys HS Chinchinim.
