Portuguese prez coming on 2-day visit to Goa today

PANJIM: Portugal President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will be on two-day visit to Goa on Saturday and Sunday. The main purpose of his visit is signing an MoU on water and sewerage management between Portugal and the Public Works Department, Goa.

The President will arrive at around 5.05pm after which he will chair the event of signing the MoU for operational efficiency of “Goa Water System”.

PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar said Portugal will provide consultancy for augmenting the water and sewerage system of the State. “The agreement would be signed between Portugal-based “Aguas de Portugal” and Goa PWD,” he said.

Thereafter, Sousa will inaugurate a seminar on ‘Urban Designs’ organised by State run Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited. The President will then attend a dinner hosted by Goa Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan. On Sunday, he will visit Santa Monica Church and the Museum of Christian Art at Old Goa before his departure.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant who was present at the banquet hosted in honour of Sousa by President Ramnath Kovind said he is looking forward to welcoming the Portuguese President in Goa.
