MARGAO: South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Friday distributed 15 three-wheeler scooters to the handicap, besides an ambulance to the elderly housed in Margao’s Home for the Aged under the MPLAD scheme.
At a function held at the district Collectorate, the MP handed over the keys of the three-wheeler scooters to 13 beneficiaries in the presence of district Collector, N D Agrawal, Additional Collector Venancio Furtado and Morajkar and Chairman of Goa Urdu Academy Urfan Mulla.
Sardinha later told the media that the three-wheeler scooters and the Ambulance were provided under the MPLAD scheme, adding that he is open to making available three-wheelers to handicapped not covered under the scheme. The scooters and ambulance has cost the government around Rs 19 lakh – 10 lakh for the three-wheeler scooters and Rs nine lakh for the ambulance.
One of the beneficiary, Aifa Khan thanked the South Goa MP for providing her the three-wheeler motorcycle.
