PANJIM: As the first taluka-wise meeting to streamline the mid-day meal scheme began in Sattari on Thursday, parents declared their willingness to take the onus of monitoring the mid-day meals being provided to their kids in school.
It may be recalled that the directorate of education had suggested that parents should monitor the mid-day meals along with the officers of the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration that are to be appointed in all talukas. The directorate also said if parents are not satisfied with the meals, it would not clear the payment of the self-help groups. Presently the schools and the self-help groups have been divided on basis of panchayats and municipal areas to make it easier for the parents to monitor the meals.
Meanwhile, the first meeting was held in two batches with almost 430 members including headmasters and parents participating in the same. The meeting was presided over by Director of Education Anil Powar.
