PANJIM: Congress party is forced to accept the formation of three- minister committee to govern the state in the absence of the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, as the party accused the ruling dispensation of committing a fraud by appointing the committee.
GPCC President Shantaram Naik alleged that the formation is a fraud and claimed that Parrikar does not trust his own party colleagues.
“It appears that the present government is held hostage by one individual. Things are very precarious. The appointment of three ministers makes it clear that he does not trust anybody,” he said.
Stating that the government functions as per the rules of business of government of Goa, Naik accused the government of committing fraud. “Have the rules of business of government of Goa been amendment for such a formation of committee? Therefore this is a fraud on the part of the administration.”
Meanwhile, stating that the Congress stands by the decision against auction of mining leases, Naik said that because Karnataka found it fit to auction, the same cannot be applied to Goa.
He was reacting to the meeting of an all party delegation from the state with Union Minister Piyush Goel in Delhi on Monday.

‘Not averse to toppling govt’
PANJIM: Even as the opposition has been dismal performer ever since the formation of the government, GPCC President Shantaram Naik said that the party would not shy away from toppling the present BJP-led government and form a government in the absence of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
When asked if the opposition would be more active in absence of Parrikar, Naik quipped “When we were not active. In fact we may form the government.”
He said that the Congress party had a list of leaders who could lead the state as chief minister.
