Tejas Shevde and Krishal Peres da Silva bagged a double crown each in the finals of 3rd All-Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament organised by Shree Mangirish Vidyadayini Samstha, Mangueshi, on Saturday.
Wesley do Rosario, Tanisi Kirtani, Tejas Shevde, Roshi Gopani, Krishal Peres da Silva, Eleanor do Rosario won the individual championships.
Results of the finals:
Cadet boys – Wesley Do Rosario beat Mangesh Sakordekar 14-16,13-11, 11-8, 11-5.
Cadet girls – Tanisi Kirtani beat Arantxa Noronha 11-9, 12-14, 8-11, 11-6, 12-10.
Sub-junior boys – Tejas Shevde beat B. SreeSiddharth 14-12, 11-6, 11-8.
Sub-junior girls – Roshni Gopani beat Kefira Rodrigues 11-5, 11-8, 11-3.
Junior boys – Krishal Peres da Silva beat Tejas Shevde 7-11, 11-3, 11-8, 12-10.
Junior girls – Eleanor do Rosario beat Devika Sood 14-12, 10-12, 11-9, 11-8.
Junior boys doubles – Tejas Shevde and Krishal beat Arjun Sood and Yash Salgaocar – 11-2, 11-1, 9-11, 11-6.
Ponda Taluka men finals – Amogh Namshikar beat Vijayshyam Mardolkar – 11-2, 10-12, 11-9, 11-8.
Sagar Sakordekar, welcomed. Chief referee Ashok was felicitated. Sandip Pagi, PE teacher, Wagle High School, co-ordinated the tournament efficiently and was felicitated.
Prof. Pundalik Khavante presided over the function. Arun Desai, president of Samstha and Desai Pratishthan was the chief guest. Neeti Kamat, headmistress, Wagle High School, Mangeshi, Audhut Kamat, vice-president, Samstha, Sagar Sakordekar, secretary and tournament co-ordinator and Ashok Mahambrey, chief referee were among those present. Prizes were distributed by Arun Desai and other dignitaries.
The tournament was sponsored by Sohan Kelekar, Deepak Dhawalikar, MLA, Maruti Naik, Baba Desai, Baab Contructions (India), Govind Gaonkar, Jog Constructions, Manish Lamber, Rajan Parker, Devilal Mehra, Dr. Ajay Pednekar and Shamant Mulvi.
