MAPUSA: Salgaocar Football Club defeated FC Goa 5-2 via the tie-breaker to emerge champions in the State final of GFA’s U-14 league, at Duler Stadium, here, on Sunday.

The sides displayed some good brand soccer with the regulation time ending in a 2-2 draw.
Salgaocar FC who took the field with several sub-junior national players shot into the lead in the seventh minute when Antush Moniz’s power-packed strike crashed into the FC Goa nets past the diving keeper Shaheel Shaikh.
However, within a span of a few minutes, FC Goa equalized when Salgaocar FC defender 
Mauvin Gauncar in the process of clearing the ball tapped it into his own nets.
A couple minutes before the breather, Asfin Pinto charged into the Salgaocar FC citadel and crossed the ball to Reuben Castelinho, whose header deflected off the defender and rolled once again to Asfin, who fired in a powerful left-footer which had no answer from the rival keeper.
On resumption, The Green Brigade managed restored parity through Meldon Oliveira, whose long range effort landed into the far end of the FC Goa goal.
As the teams could not find the match-winner at the end of the regulation time, the tie-breaker was implemented where Movin Gaunkar, Rohit Naik and Melroy scored for Salgaocar FC while only Chadel Fernandes could find the back of the nets for FC Goa.
