LPG gas tanker turns turtle at Raia, no casualty

A loaded Hindustan Petroleum LPG gas tanker turned turtle at the Raia market in the wee hours of Friday.
Fortunately, there was no leakage from the ill-fated tanker, even as it rested alongside the main road in the market.
The incident occurred at around 6 am on Friday when it was proceeding towards Ponda. The loaded vehicle, carrying 17 tonnes of LPG, had come from Mangalore.
Personnel of the fire services and representatives of HPCL were on the site co-ordinating to ensure there was no leakage from the ill-fated tanker.
The tanker could not be towed away in the morning itself as the HPCL was waiting for the heavy duty crane.
Chief Inspector Parash told Herald that HPCL is coordinating with the transport department to tow away the vehicle.
He ruled out the question of leakage in the LPG tanker.
The tanker is believed to have rammed against an electric pole in the market area before landing on the roadside, causing irreparable damage to the pole. A few pottery items stored in the area were also left damaged.
Investigations are on.
