One woman was dragged for about six to seven metres by the car. The injured women are Sulabha Prasad Usgaonkar (40) of Yeshwant Nagar, Tisk-Ponda and the other is Sunita Vinay Bhat (42) who lives near the ESI hospital in Margao.
The incident occurred at about 3.15 pm. Once the news of the accident spread about tension prevailed at the site.
It is learnt that both women had come to attend a function at Dhonshi Bandora. As they were returning home and were standing by the roadside, the speeding car suddenly appeared from nowhere and rammed into them.
It was informed that the driver of the car ia a native from Mumbai and had borrowed the car from a Goa. He has since been arrested. The two women suffered fractures to their legs and are hospitalised. Police are investigating further in the case.
