PERNEM: A 61-year-old van driver from Murmushe-Tuem died, while six other occupants of the vehicle were injured in a collision between the van and bus along the NH17 at Sukekulan-Dhargal on Sunday night.
According to Pernem Police, the accident occurred at about 8 pm when the driver of the bus (GA-03-K-3853), which was proceeding from Mapusa to Patradevi, crossed the divider and dashed against the oncoming van (GA-03-C-4531).
Police further informed that van driver, Mohan Talkar, succumbed to injury at District Hospital, Mapusa. Other occupants of the van who sustained injuries are Anant Fhapde, Ramesh Fhapde, Sachin Fhapde, Satish Fhapde, Suhas Fhapde and Parshuram Fhapde.
Police said the bus driver fled from the spot and ASI S R Naik is investigating the case.
