CANACONA, JULY 22
Family members had a lucky escape when a room of their house collapsed at Char Rasta, Canacona on Tuesday night.
According to reports, no one was injured in the incident. However, the incident has caused a loss of about Rs 40,000 to house owner Shivaji Dessai.
Sources informed that weak mud walls of the old house were the reason for the collapse, amid incessant rains that lashed Canacona late Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, with Canacona receiving consistent rains, the seasonal rains is much better than the last year, as the taluka has crossed 75 inches of rain by Wednesday afternoon.
Chapoli dam, the lifeline of the people of Canacona, has reached 35.35 RL (Reduced Level) by Wednesday. The total storage capacity of Chapoli Dam is 38.75 RL.
