RAIA: Betalbatim SC got the better of Raia SC 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the 47th All Goa Custodio Memorial football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia panchayat ground, on Sunday.
Raia had some early chances to score through strikers Danny Fernandes and Oilex Oliveira but both shot into the side netting of Betalbatim in the 5th and 10th minutes respectively.
Two minutes later, Betalbatim through striker Klusner Perira was brilliantly saved by the Betalbatim keeper Micky Antao. As the match progressed in the 46th minute, Danny’s free-kick hit the Betalbatim cross bar and rebound back into play. At the other end, Betalbatim through Clifford Miranda’s corner kick was saved by Raia keeper Lio Colaco in the 50th minute.
In the resultant tie-breaker Betalbatim SC netted through Klusner Pereira, Aniston Fernandes, Selio Fernandes, Dever D’Souza and Clifford Miranda while Oilex Oliveira, Daniel Gomes, Jouston Barbosa and Vicky Gauncar scored for Raia SC.
Betalbatim SC will now meet Sao Jose de Areal in the final on August 5.
