PANJIM: Taunting Power Minister Nilesh Cabral for running away from a debate over Arvind Kejriwal model versus BJP model of electricity, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi MLA Raghav Chadha has once again accepted the challenge and said it’s Power Minister Satyendra Jain, if needed, will hold public debate via a video conference on the subject.
Cabral had on Monday said that he is ready for a debate with his Delhi counterpart over the electricity model in their respective States and not with an MLA or official of Delhi Jal Board.

The statement came after Chadha, vice chairman of Jal Board, announced to have accepted the challenge for public debate, for which he landed in Goa on Tuesday afternoon. Addressing the media persons soon after landing in the coastal State, Chadha announced to replicate Delhi’s power model in Goa, with free electricity consumption upto 200 units, if the AAP voted to power in 2022 Assembly elections.
He said that the scheme will benefit nearly 73 per cent of the Goans.
“When the AAP forms a government in Goa, within 48 hours, we will ensure that Delhi power model is implemented in Goa, giving free power to the consumers upto 200 units,” he said adding that those consuming between 200 units and 400 units to get 50 per cent subsidy on the bill and hence will have to pay only half of the actual amount.
Chadha, who even called on the mobile number of Cabral during the press conference; however was unable to reach out, said that the minister is running and shying away from his own challenge for public debate.
“Now he is running away giving excuses of protocol…that he will only hold debate with power minister of Delhi,” he said.
“If that is the case, our Delhi power minister will be ready to hold debate via a video conference on the issue. Let Cabral tell the day and time,” the Delhi MLA said.
Chadha alleged that the BJP high command in New Delhi has reprimanded Cabral and Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and warned not to get indulge in any such debate.
“I had come down to Goa only for the debate. I would have loved if Cabral had to participate in the debate,” he said. The AAP leader has urged Cabral to reconsider his withdrawal of challenge.
With documentary evidences, Chadha claimed that in Delhi uninterrupted 24×7 power supply is provided to the consumers with free consumption upto 200 units.
“Whereas in Goa, there is erratic power supply and power cuts. And the electricity in Goa is the most expensive,” he charged.
