BJP asks Ravi to resign

The BJP today demanded that Home Minister Ravi Naik should resign from the ministry in view of the public statement made by Israeli drug dealer Atala’s girlfriend, Lucky Farmhouse, naming his son Roy in the police-drug mafia nexus.
The party spokesperson Rajendra Arlekar addressing a press conference here on Wednesday evening, said the government should take note of Farmhouse’s public statement. Lucky Farmhouse who had earlier hinted that influential politician’s son had involved in the police-drug mafia nexus, in an interview to Swedish paper now has disclosed Roy’s name.
“All these days, the needle of suspicion had pointed towards the home minister and his son. Now, an Israeli tabloid has published an interview where Farmhouse has said that the home minister’s son is involved in the police-drug mafia nexus and was regularly visiting drug dealer Atala’s house,” Arlekar said.
“If this is true, we are being defamed. This is a black spot on Goa’s polity and social life,” he added.
While alleging that the Home Minister has not been handling the department properly, the BJP has now cast doubts whether the police can handle the Atala case without bias.
“It is clear now that under Ravi Naik, the police will not investigate the case in a fair manner. That the police have not been doing their job has been proved in the court after Atala managed to get out on bail,” he said.
“The BJP demands that the home minister resign from the home portfolio, he may keep other portfolios. If the home minister does not resign, the chief minister must take over the home ministry,” he said.
