Kharif crops not damaged in heavy rain: Quepem ZAO

QUEPEM: Zonal Agricultural Officer of Quepem Sandesh Raut Desai told Herald that there is no complaint of any damage to the paddy fields during the past continuous rains.

“Farmers have not reported any damage to their paddy fields because they are still in the process of transplantation. So the fields getting damaged in continuous rain is ruled out because transplantation has just begun this month,” said Raut Desai.

On the contrary, heavy rain helps the transplantation process of kharif crops which is done in the following areas, Barcem, Paddi, Sukdhale, Balli, Molkare, and Ambaulim. In some areas Rabi crop is taken up by farmers in December.
