PANJIM: On the first day, despite the 15-day curfew imposed in the State, the industrial sector reported over 40 per cent attendance.
As the industrial sector was spared from the curfew and allowed to function, the attendance varied from company to company. Many under the condition of anonymity reported over 40 per cent, some of them even 80-10]0 per cent attendance.

Majority of the companies were hesitant to reveal their names but willingly shared the attendance data. Some companies took voluntary decision and preferred to shut down production completely. Only essential staff attended the office in Verna Industrial Estate, which had reported to be one of the hotspot for COVID positive cases in recent times.
Senior officials of Verna Industries Association (VIA) confirmed to Herald that no restriction or hindrance was faced by the employees reporting for duty on Monday. No outsiders or visitors are allowed by almost all the companies operating and they are all taking utmost precaution at this time of the crises.
The sources added that “We are following all protocols such as maintaining physical distancing between the staff and proper sanitisation is done frequently, needless to say that all entry points are at the highest vigil. In fact, some of the companies have stopped their operations but majority of them are functioning, with precaution.”
President of Tulip Diagnostics Pvt Ltd, Deepak Tripathi, who is into manufacturing of antigen testing sets in Goa reported attendance of 80-90 per cent.
“Our vigilance is very active these days and all entry points are sensitised. We do not allow any staff to enter the premises if they are found symptomatic. We do antigen and cluster testing for the safety of all. We had also advised our staff for Ivermectin Prophylaxis about a fortnight ago,” said Tripathi.
Founder of Sevarat Healthcare and Nursing Pvt Ltd Rohini Gonsalves, who is into senior care health and nursing services said, “On the first day of the State wide curfew today, we had a 100 per cent attendance and everything was on track. We have put in our own logistics to transport our staff of caretakers and nurses from the quarters to the customers’ residences and back. We have ensured they are vaccinated and also helped them with Ivermectin tablets as a precautionary measure.”
She added that apart from this, their staff wears a separate uniform in transit, changes into a clean uniform once they reach their locations.
“They wear masks and face shields to protect themselves and maintain personal hygiene. We are committed to continue serving the families of our customers with utmost caution to prevent exposure to the virus,” said Rohini.
