I wish to highlight the harrowing experience of applying for Home Isolation in the State. My brother-in-law, who had come in contact with his COVID positive colleague undertook a test and was found positive. Since he was not willing to go to a COVID Care Centre, I had to assist him while applying for Home Isolation.
My brother-in-law is a blue collar worker, who does not know how to operate a computer. Hence, I had to apply for him. I tried applying for over 24 hours and then the website finally opened. The next glitch was registration.

Despite adding the Aadhaar Card number, email ID (note that I had to specifically create an email ID for my brother-in-law), mobile number, name and other details, the registration did not proceed since the error message “unable to process request, please try after some time”.
Finally, after taking help of my friends, I could apply. All this drama lasted for 48 hours and the doctors of the primary health centre repeatedly called us asking to apply quickly.
The State government has no doubt handled the COVID situation in a shoddy manner. Right from testing to opening borders, the scenario is such that the COVID graph — it looks like Goa will not decrease in the near future. Even this pathetic Goa Online website which is managed by Goa Electronics Ltd is an example of the government’s failure. Why can the government not simplify mechanism for applying for Home Isolation?
