PANJIM: Two teams of Anti Corruption Branch of the Directorate of Vigilance raided residences of former BDO of Mormugao Block Mohini Halarnkar alias Mohini A S Shirwaikar at St Inez and Betim. She is facing charges of corruption along with another official.
Her government accommodation at St Inez and another house at Ekoshi Beti in Betim were raided and checked for documents and other evidence. She was questioned for about one and half hour, on Monday, from 9.30 am to 11 am.
The case has also been registered against Saroj Naik after taking cognizance of a complaint filed by Chicalim Village Panchayat Secretary Siddhesh Faldesai. He had alleged that the duo destroyed official records of the monthly panchayat meeting. Thereafter an FIR was initially registered by the Vasco police, which was later transferred to the ACB which has been asked to investigate the case under Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.
There have not been any arrests thus far, but it is likely that Mohini may be summoned again for questioning.
