VASCO: Vasco police on Monday arrested five youth, including a minor boy, on charges of stealing gold and foreign currency worth Rs 4.79 lakh from a bungalow at Katem-Baina on January 6.
According to the police, a source informed them that a boy from the area was absconding soon after the theft. Accordingly, police traced the boy and took him into custody.
Police further informed that the minor boy during interrogation revealed the names of other accomplishes. The accused identified are Rahsul Nabi Sheik (20), Mohamad Zakhir Hussain (19), Paul Cheema (21) and Venkat Suresh Kataria (20).
The police added that while the stolen booty is yet to be recovered, they have arrested Sheik, Hussain, Cheema and Kataria under Sections 457, 380 of IPC, while the accused minor boy was sent to Apna Ghar at Merces and PSI Gaurish Parab is investigating the case.
It may be recalled that on January 6, when the family from Katem-Baina was in Valankanni, some persons unlocked the front door and decamped with gold and foreign currency, worth Rs 4.79 lakh.
