The Goa government has warned drivers of official vehicles that they will be held personally responsible if the vehicles assigned to them are found operating without valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates.
In a circular issued on August 6, the General Administration Department directed drivers whose vehicles have expired or soon-to-expire PUC certificates to renew them within one week.

The department said several government vehicles had been found operating without valid PUC certificates, in violation of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
Drivers who fail to renew the certificates within the stipulated period could face fines, penalties or other disciplinary action, the department warned.
The drivers have also been instructed to submit a copy of the renewed PUC certificate to facilitate reimbursement of the renewal expenses. The original certificate must be kept in the respective vehicle and produced for inspection whenever required.
The government has stressed that drivers must ensure their allotted vehicles comply with the mandatory pollution-control requirements and carry valid documentation at all times.
