The month of October is a special month for Catholic community as the month has always been dedicated to Mother Mary, and more specifically to the praying of the most powerful weapon, ‘The Holy Rosary’. The praying of the Holy Rosary brings about peace, love, reconciliation and brotherhood among the devotees. It contains within itself the healing power of the most holy name of Jesus, invoked with faith and love at the center of each Hail Mary.
The Catechetical Unit of St Bartholomew’s Church, headed by Fr Joseph Estrocio, parish priest, Fr Americo Rodrigues, the animator; Sr Cindrella Rodrigues, co-ordinator; Mellisa Gaunkar, president, along with all the catechists came up with a unique activity for their Catechism children so they may reflect more upon the topic. The activity was the presentation of Rosaries and Grottos prepared from wealth out of waste. The junior group of children were given the task of preparing Rosaries and the senior group to prepare the Grottos. The response for this activity was amazing where in several children participated, and the talent showcased by them was simply mind-blowing. The children made beautiful grottos out of coconut shells, plastic bottles, newspapers, cardboards, sand, pistachio shells, bubble wraps, thermocol, etc. Each grotto presentation was unique in its own way, and some were presented even with fairy lights and fountain too. The judging of this presentation was done by members of the parish from three different associations namely, Jenny Fernandes, PPC representative; Rose Colaco representing the SSVP and Peter Rodrigues, president of the Parish Youth Group. The winners of the presentation were first prize was won by Vancel Colaco, second prize winner was Analisa Fernandes and the third prize was shared by Daileass Alphonso and Belicia Godinho.

With this simple activity, the Catechetical Unit hopes and prays that the children of the parish grow stronger in faith and always strive to get closer and closer to Almighty God, at times through the most beloved Mother Mary.
