PANJIM: Dhruv Patil emerged champion at the Big Foot, Loutolim rapid chess tournament, organized by Big Foot, Loutolim in memory of Pobre Gomes, at Loutolim.
Sidnoy Fernandes secured the second place while Ruben Rodrigues settled for the third. A total of 68 students from Loutolim participated.
Saniton Navelkar, Sanford Fernandes, Sadrick Fernandes, Sushant Gavalkar, Nishant Hegganver, Sachin Rathod, Keegan Fernandes, Myren Pacheco, Warren Fernandes, Floyed Vaz, Alston Fernandes and Sagar Gond secured fourth to 15th places respectively.
Age category prizes were awarded to Glenn Monteiro (best in U-9 boys) and Delila Alvis (best in U-9 girls).
Amogh Namshiker was the chief arbiter and was assisted by Jaywant Hammanavar and Bhakti Naik.
Prizes and certificates were awarded by chief guest Dr Aldrin Mascarenhas in the presence of Sagar Sakordekar and guest of honour Pascoal Noronha.
Earlier, Maendra Alvares welcomed and later proposed the vote of thanks.
