A half Indian and half Japanese, Miles Lobo is a New York-based
actor born and raised in Goa. He received his Bachelor’s at the FLAME School of
Fine and Performing Arts, Pune. He later passed out from Lee Strasberg Theatre
and Film Institute, New York and also pursued theatre in India and Japan.
Within two years, he has climbed the ladder of success rapidly, with sheer
determination and self-belief.
“I always wanted to be an actor. It was
tough initially. But my parents supported me and then I joined Flame University
in Pune and did my graduation in performing arts. My passion for acting then
took me to New York. Then my career took off. From being nobody from Goa, going
to New York and working there was a great experience,” he said.

That was the beginning, where he learnt
method acting. He came back to Goa after COVID hit the world.
“There was no work happening in US, the
living expenditure was mounting. Bollywood was also shut. There was no acting
work. That’s when I came back to Goa and after coming back from New York I
started a production firm called KE Production in the midst of Covid,” he said.
Lobo then roped in a few budding film makers from Parra and
Guirim and made two short films in midst of COVID – The Negotiator and
Dogfighter.
“The Negotiator was one, shot in one room with just one camera
man entirely during COVID. The other one was Dogfighter. The Negotiator was a
fictious take on a FBI agent who is negotiating over phone with a person who
has climbed on top of a building to commit suicide. DogFighter was our very
first concept film about street fights in a fictional Goa. I wrote the script
and cast myself so that I could perform and showcase my acting skills,” he
said.
Negotiator won him the best director award at the Gemstone film
competition in Japan. It also won the best director at the Strasberg film
festival in New York.
“We had to push our third film for later this year as COVID
caught up with some of our actors. It is our biggest project. It’s a 20 minute
film and has a good script. I have been writing the script for last one year,”
he said.
“We released Happy New Year, a comedy short skit on Instagram
this film generated over six thousand views in one month we only had about 50
followers at the time,” Lobo added.
Lobo is also a licensed in stage combat. He trained and assisted
J. Allen Suddeth, one of the founding fight masters at the SAFD (Society of
American Fight Directors). “This has helped me concentrate on my acting and do
away with negative thoughts,” he said.
Lobo
has now booked a Bollywood role in Hansal Mehtha’s upcoming Film Faraaz. Apart
from film making and acting, Lobo has also begun teaching at his alma mater
FLAME University in Pune. Apart from his multiple work experience, he also
credits his dual (Indo-Japanese) cultural upbringing for his success.
