Resignation of MMC vice chief submitted to DMA

The resignation of Margao Municipal Council vice-chairperson Babita Naik was on Friday submitted to the office of the Director of Municipal Administration.
MMC Chairperson Savio Coutinho has said Babita’s resignation letter was entered in the office of the DMA this evening for further action.
In the meantime, Babita said she has tendered her resignation as per the understanding amongst the 11-member ruling group of Councilors to step down from office after a year in office.
She thanked both the ruling and opposition Councilors for electing her unopposed and extending her cooperation during her tenure.
The ruling body is likely to nominate Councilor Raju Naik for the post of Vice-Chairperson. The MMC Chairperson said that he would consultations with party leaders and ruling Councilors on the matter.
