PANJIM: The Education Department has issued a notice to a school teacher asking why action should not be initiated against him in a case of molestation registered at Sanguem police station.
The teacher, accused of molesting an underage student at a picnic earlier this month, has been asked to appear before Education Director G P Bhat on Thursday.
Confirming the development, Bhat said that any action against the teacher, including suspension, would be decided based on his explanation to the notice.
“He has been asked to reply to the notice in person on Thursday. Whether or not he will be suspended from the services will depend on the inquiry report,” he said.
The teacher, brother of a police inspector, is charged under relevant sections of Goa Children’s Act and POCSO.
