Restaurant assn hails State Budget

PANJIM: The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India has welcomed the budget presented by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and initiatives taken which it says would go a long way in boosting tourism in Goa.

PANJIM: The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India has welcomed the budget presented by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and initiatives taken which it says would go a long way in boosting tourism in Goa. 
The association in a press communiqué has welcomed the decision of 60 per cent reduction in the tax during off-season. 
It has also welcomed government announcements of several sops to the tourism sector, including relaxation of time limits for serving alcohol in restaurants. The association says that all restaurants in the coastal belt and in five municipal areas will be permitted to operate until 4 am. The association had submitted a pre-budget memorandum to the chief minister recently seeking certain assistance from the government to the tourism sector that would help hotels and restaurants. The association has also hailed the government for taking steps that will help in better management and disposal of garbage and beach safety.
