MARGAO: At an inspection of the desilted Colva creek, Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas called on the public to monitor and see that there is no more dumping of waste, bottles etc into the creek.
While addressing media persons after the inspection, Viegas said following discussions with the Water Resources Department (WRD), a mesh will be placed horizontally over the creek as well.

He added that placing of tiles on the walkway will also be completed soon. He added that they had noticed a lot of outlets that flow out into the creek and that it is important to verify what it is that is flowing out of these outlets, if it’s sewage or wastewater.
He said that a temporary arrangement will also be made for restaurants nearby to see that their sewerage is taken care of via an existing facility managed by the contractor of the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) until the Colva Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) is made functional.
The MLA also spoke about how the entire Benaulim constituency can be developed from a tourism point of view. He said the capacity of tourism establishments like hotels and restaurants also has to increase. He added that he had got a good response from the tourism minister and department about augmenting the tourism infrastructure across the constituency.
