The Ponda Sessions Court has adjourned the hearing for Meghana Paresh Sawardekar’s anticipatory bail plea to August 23. Furthermore, the court has extended the interim relief from arrest, previously granted to Meghana, until the forthcoming hearing.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class, Ponda, on Tuesday, remanded a 14-day judicial custody for Shripad alias Paresh Sawardekar, the accused in the Banastarim accident case. The accused was allegedly driving the Mercedes SUV under the influence of alcohol in a reckless and negligent manner, resulting in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of three individuals and left three others injured on August 6.
Following the accident, Paresh was taken into custody at midnight. Initially, he was remanded to two days of police custody. The JMFC subsequently extended this custody by an additional five days. On Monday, the JMFC further extended the custody by one day, even as the accused sought bail from the High Court of Bombay at Goa.
