Salgaocar FC pip Goa Police; Velsao SCC hold St Savio SC

DULER: Salgaocar FC defeated Goa Police SC 3-1 in the Goa Football Association’s Geno First Division League, played at Duler Stadium Mapusa, on Friday.
Salgaocar FC started the match on an attacking note and tried to surge ahead from the word go. Goa Police on the other hand defended well to keep the ball in the midfield area. However, the resilient young Green Brigade found the breakthrough in the 13th minute of the match as their striker Ronaldo Oliveira made no mistake to finish off his early chance in the game, thus making it 1-0.
Struck by the reverse, Goa Police SC marched on to the rival citadel in order to make amends and were successful in netting the equaliser in the 16th minute through Siddesh Narvekar’s strike.
Salgaocar’s in form striker Ronaldo Oliveira took his chances and soon sent his team into the lead once again in the 30th minute. At half-time the scores read 2-1 in favour of Salgaocar FC.
Post resumption, Salgaocar FC drove the final nail into the  Goa Police coffin in the 84th minute as Ronaldo completed his hat-trick to give his team the edge in the league.
In another match played at Artificial turf, Fatorda, Velsao SCC and St Savio SC Calangute played a goalless draw.
