MARGAO: Maina Sports Club got the better of Carmona Sports Club 3-2 to move to the quarter-finals of the Super Soccer tournament organized by United Boys of Colva, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Tuesday. In the first half, Carmona SC were leading 2-0.
In the first half, Carmona dominated the game right from the first whistle through Mohammed Shaikh in the 18th minute through a power-packed shot after a cross from Presley D’sa.
There after Maina doubled the advantage in the 26th minute through Agnelo Martins off an assist from Marcus Fernandes.
However, Carmona pulled a goal back in the 30th minute through Presley.
Crossing over, in the 47th minute Manuel Castanha made it 2-2 but Maina scored their third goal in the 68th minute through Agnelo Martins off an assist by Joaquim Carvalho.
In the final quarter, Carmona went all out to level terms and Presley came up with a solo effort only to see his strike sail over the horizontal bar.
