Is it not a sad paradox of our era that despite the phenomenal growth in our life standards, we hardly see any one truly alive, when that means more than simply being a moving, breathing, eating, drinking, and talking human creature?
The one who is truly alive would find the days to be too short for all the wonderful explorations life offers. To him life would be an ongoing adventure and wondrous experience, with opportunities for joy and success at every turn. He would see himself as part of the Eternity, and that inherent in him are all the powers and possibilities latent in the Universe, and that also inherent in him is the will to work out these possibilities.
Additionally, a truly alive or awakened person acquires an alert, receptive mind and an awakened spirit, without which he would simply be a splendid animal. With these gifts he becomes the highest expression of the Eternal Creator visible to mortal vision. And with these blessings he finds his opportunities for happiness, usefulness and joy in existence. He knows the pleasures of the physical plane, for which his body is fashioned; he draws to himself the pleasures of the mental plane, and he senses the pleasures of the spiritual plane, which lies near, and derives power there from.
Such an awakened individual radiates light, cheer, sympathy, and helpfulness to all who come within his aura. Aware of the vibrations from the physical, mental and spiritual realms, he knows all temptations; and from having made many wrong steps himself on his road to gradual ascend, he can sympathize, counsel and help those who have not been able to keep step with him in his progress.
A truly alive person discovers and uses his own position in the world and his own environment as the first field of action if he hopes to reach success in any venture. He does not wait for luck or miracle to give him a change of location and surroundings better suited to his taste. Out of whatever destiny has bestowed upon him he makes conditions which he desires and out of every day he makes a little bit of heaven.
No obstacles or trouble can dishearten an awakened person. For him difficulties are mere challenges of fate, and obstacles are mere hurdles to try his skill, troubles are nothing more than bitter tonics to give him strength and he rises higher and looms greater after each encounter with adversity.
The one who is alive in the true sense of the term, is in touch with every new movement; he is awake to the consciousness of the march of progress and discoveries of science.
