PONDA: Arjun Laxaman Naik (47), native of Thane, Maharashtra and resident of Cuncoliem-Priol died on the spot while his wife suffered injuries in an accident at GVM circle, Farmagudi, on Friday.
According to Ponda Police, the fatal accident took place around 8 pm when bike rider Naik came under the wheels of the truck.

Naik had come to Ponda market along with wife for shopping. While proceeding from Ponda to Cuncoliem-Priol when they reached at GVM circle, Farmagudi, the truck proceeding from Ponda to Farmagudi dashed against the bike and dragged the victim for almost 15 metres.
The injured wife was shifted to the Ponda Sub-District Hospital and later to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for treatment.
Ponda Police registered an offence against driver Sagar Dina Naik (42), native of Belgaum and residing at Panchawadi, Shiroda, for rash driving and arrested him.
