Ponda police arrested a couple on charges of cheating a youth by promising him a job abroad.
Acting on a complaint filed by Honarth Periera of Tishem-Borim, Ponda police arrested Ramji and Suda Vishwakarma from their residence at Curti on Friday afternoon.
Police has also seized seven passports from their residence, which also includes one passport of a Nepali national. According to the complainant, cash of Rs 24,000 was deposited with the accused some six months back.
The duo was learnt to be involved in employing people abroad, but the complaint said the accused kept making excuses when he approached them to know about his employment abroad.
Pereira finally lodged a police complaint when he realised that he had been taken for a ride. Ponda ASI Chandra Morajkar is investigating the case.
