MARGAO: A Maina-Curtorim police team landed in Hubli early Monday morning in search of a person, who is alleged to have supplied the crude bombs to deceased Paplu Malgund in the Areal bomb blast case.
A joint raid conducted by the Goa police and its Hubli counterparts, however, yielded no result as the house of the supplier was found closed this morning. Given the situation, the Goa police team has now requested the Hubli police to maintain vigil at the house of the supplier.
Sources in the Maina-Curtorim police informed that investigations have revealed that deceased Paplu was regularly procuring the crude bombs from the Hubli native before bringing them to Goa. “We have gathered information that the deceased after collecting the bombs from Hubli used to apply the cow dung and animal fat to act as a bait for wild boar during poaching”, informed a senior police official.
The police said that interrogation of the Hubli native will unearth more facts concerning the bomb blast and whether the crude bombs were being supplied only to deceased Paplu or more persons in the state. The police official, however, said that nothing has come on record to prove that the deceased was then supplying the bombs to third parties in the state.
The ongoing investigations into the Areal bomb blast has come under the scanner of the Sao Jose de Areal villagers, who have demanded handing over the investigations to central agencies such as CBI or NIA to rule out all possible
angles, including the
terror angle.
