Farmers to get financial relief in five days: Dy CM

PERNEM: Flood-relief cheques were distributed to the affected people from Pernem taluka by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Pernem MLA Manojar Ajgaonkar and North Goa Collector R Maneka. 
Sawant also announced that those who had voluntarily provided assistance to those in need during the floods will be felicitated on Liberation Day, December 19. He also requested them to register their names under the government’s disaster management teams so that they can be approached for help in the future if there is any other disaster, natural calamity or any emergency. 
It is to be noted that the disaster management teams, which were appointed to assess the losses, identified 119 beneficiaries of flood relief. This list included two families whose houses were damaged completed as it came under water. The two beneficiaries are Vanitha Madkar from Ibrampur and Ajit Langote from Pernem and they were given an amount of Rs 1, 10,100 rupees from the State Disaster Response Fund and Goa Disaster Management fund.
CM added that a minimum of Rs 10,000 will be given as a relief amount to every household affected by the flooding in Pernem taluka. 
“There are a few cheques amounting less than 10,000. However by merging funds from the Goa Disaster Management Fund, State Disaster Response Fund and Chief Minister Disaster Fund, an amount of minimum10, 000 rupees will be given to the affected people,” said Sawant. 
He added that many industrialists, businessmen have voluntarily donated money and have been helping the flood-affected people. 
“I appeal to industrialists and businessmen from Pernem taluka to voluntarily donate and help the people,” Sawant added. 
North Goa Collector, R Maneka informed that 40 beneficiaries will be given the relief amount through cheque and that the remaining people will get the relief amount directly into their accounts in the next two days. Dy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar informed that the process of assessing the losses suffered by the farmers is underway and the farmers will get the relief amount in the next five days. 
Pernem Deputy Collector, Chandrakant Shetkar, Pernem Mamlatdar Rajesh Ajgaonkar, Chairperson of Pernem municipality Shweta Kambli and staff were also present.
