Stop release of sewage,NGO tells MMC
HERALD REPORTER
MARGAO, OCT 25
The Green Goa Foundation has served a legal notice on the Margao Municipal Council to stop the illegal discharge of domestic sewage into the public drain along the NH-17 at Navelim-Margao within 30 days or threatened to file a petition in the high court.
In his notice, Green Goa Foundation Chairman Raison Almeida said the sewage waters have been causing pollution near the Kudchadkar nursing home along the NH-17, and blamed the builder for releasing the untreated water and sewage waste into public drain.
He pointed that though the Goa Pollution Control Board directed the Margao Municipal Chief Officer to take action, the discharge of domestic sewage into the public drain continues causing stink, putting the entire neighbourhood in grave danger.
