PANJIM: The Goa Professional League 2014 will be held from March 12 to 22 organised by Goa Cricket Association at GCA, Porvorim ground.
Kapil Dev, legendary Indian all- rounder and 1983 World Cup winner and Brijesh Patel, Secretary of Karnataka State Cricket Association will unveil the trophy at 6.30 p.m. on March 12.
In this edition, seven teams will participate with five local teams including Dempo Cricket Club, Sarvodaya Sporting, Chowgule Sports Club, Salgaocar Sports Club and a new team Geno Sports Club. There will also be two International teams, one from USA and the other from Russia.
For the first time the GPL will held day and night matches. The first match will be held in the afternoon and next will begin in the evening under floodlights with coloured clothing and a white-ball.
Winners will Rs. 8 lakhs while runners-up Rs. 5 Lakhs besides many other prizes.
The matches will be relayed live through local electronic media.
The GPL Players Auction was held at GCA, Porvorim on March 1 at 5 p.m.
