PANJIM: The government on Thursday notified the extension of employment scheme to children of freedom fighters for a period of two years.
“Since the continuity of the scheme is essential to bestow the benefits under the scheme to children of freedom fighters registered with the Home Department, the Government of Goa is pleased to extend the validity of the aforesaid scheme as per clause 7 of the Principal Notification for a further period of two years with effect from March 1, 2017,” notification issued by the Home Department said.
The State government had framed the scheme following an announcement in the Budget speech 2013-14. As per the principal notification the scheme was valid up to February 28, 2015, which was later extended by two years till February 28, 2017.
“As per Clause 3(c) of the scheme, it inter-alia provides that the prevalent reservation of two percent posts under Group A and B based on roster points shall be continued for a period of two years. Since the validity of the scheme is being extended by another two years, it is proposed to substitute period of two years by six so as to be in synchronises with the policy of the government. Accordingly, the validity of the scheme is further extended by period of two years – upto February 28, 2019,” the notification further adds.
