SANGUEM: Given the acute drinking water problems faced by the villagers residing at Borigotto ward of Morpilla panchayat in Quepem taluka, the Leader of Opposition Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar as a solution to the problems, recently laid the foundation for the construction of bore wells in the village.
The work for the construction of the bore well commenced by panchayat member Dinesh Gaonkar.
At the function, Kavlekar claimed that a couple of years ago, the drinking water problem faced by the villagers was supposed to be streamlined through a separate pipeline which was estimated to cost the government Rs 17 lakh. However, despite the completion of all the procedural formalities, the work did not start. “The construction of bore wells in the village will solve the drinking water problems faced by the villagers,” Kavlekar opined.
Kavlekar informed that the works pertaining to the development of roads in the village and also that of renovating of the primary school in the village was gathering dust with the concerned departments.
“While the file pertaining to the developments of roads is held back citing the issue of GST, there is no clear reason as to why the file pertaining to the renovation work of the school is held up,” Kavlekar said.
However, he informed that in the recent past no new works in any constituency are undertaken by the government. Among others who attended the function were Poonam Gaonkar and Mahesh Gaonkar.
