According to Vasco police, Bibishan Seshrao Somvanshi, who was employed for a contractor at GSL, was crossing the road to proceed to work after his lunch break, when he was knocked down by a silver-coloured Maruti Wagon R car near the GSL. The car reportedly sped away.
Somvanshi was rushed to the Chicalim Cottage Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. Some eyewitnesses managed to note down the registration number of the car and have notified the police.
Police later sent the body for an autopsy to the GMC hospital and Vasco PSI John Fernandes is investigating the case.
