Movable carts stationed at religious places disturb Santa Cruz locals

Garbage strewn all around these carts with no regard to sanctity of the place; contamination of well water at Cacra also highlighted

OLD GOA: The issue of movable carts stationed in front of religious places took centre stage at the Santa Cruz gram sabha, on Sunday, with villagers urging the panchayat authorities to initiate action against these cart owners as it not only offends the religious sanctity of the places but also causes nuisance like garbage and other unlawful activities.
Renato Dias highlighted how a bhel puri cart is stationed near a cross without any concern for the religious sanctity of the place. Dias  the panchayat authorities for keeping quiet’.
However, the panchayat authorities  that the cross is located in a private property and there is no complaint from the land owner. 
A similar issue was highlighted by the Santa Barbara Chapel members and residents of Summerville building who said that movable carts are permanently stationed near the chapel and the waste generated is strewn around without any concern for the sanctity of the place.
The members then urged the panchayat to take action against the cart owners. Later, speaking to Herald, Sarpanch Savanna Araujo informed that the panchayat will discuss on the issues and act accordingly. The issue of contamination of well water at Cacra was also discussed at the gram sabha with the villagers urging the panchayat authorities to demolish the septic tank, constructed in close vicinity of the well, due to which contamination has taken place.
The panchayat authorities assured to send notices to the party concerned who has build the septic tank.
