MMC Officials inspected the two structures as per the directions issued by the Chief Officer.
Later in the evening, the inspection report was submitted to the office of the Chief Officer, with a remark that the two structures are located in the road widening and set back area. The report will be placed at the next date of hearing scheduled on January 23. Complainant Savio Dias and others were present during the inspection.
Municipal Engineer Vishant Naik told the media that the fresh inspection of the alleged illegal structures was carried out at the instructions of the new Chief Officer. ‘We had in the past inspected one of the two structures. But, the fresh inspection was carried out upon instructions of the Chief Officer,” Naik.
As per the directives of the Director of Municipal Administration, the MMC Chief Officer has time till February 5, to pass an order in the matter, even as the South Goa Planning and Development Authority has issued a notice to Gonzaco to show cause within 15 days why the two illegal structures should not be demolished by the agency.
