Russian national arrested with drugs at Mandrem

In the second raid, Pernem police seize cannabis worth Rs 1,75,000 at Arambol

PERNEM: Pernem Police arrested a Russian national for possessing drugs at Mandrem and seized cannabis at Arambol in two separate raids on Wednesday,.

Pernem PI Jivba Dalvi informed that police had received information about a drug peddler.

Accordingly, a raid was conducted at Sawantwado, Mandrem where the accused was found in possession of narcotics substance suspected to be charas valued around Rs 25,000 and ganja worth Rs 1.6 lakh in the international market. 

Pernem Police arrested the accused 37-year-old Oleg Nazarov, a Russian national and booked a case under Section 20 (b) (ii) (A) of the NDPS Act.

In another raid, PI Jivba Dalvi received information regarding cultivation of cannabis in an open space at Arambol. Accordingly, a raiding team was formed under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi. 

A search was conducted in open place in the vicinity of house at Madhlawada, Arambol wherein cannabis valued around Rs1,75,000 in the international market was seized.

Accordingly, a case under Section 20(a) of NDPS Act has been registered against unknown person for cultivating cannabis in the property at Madhlawada, Arambol. 

Pernem Police are investigating the case and have sought details from the Revenue Department to identify the property owner.
