In a distressing incident, burglars targeted a house in Sashtiwada, Bordem-Bicholim, on Monday, making off with a silver idol and silver glasses valued at approximately Rs 20,000. The Bicholim police are actively investigating the matter.
The burglars gained entry by breaking the locks of the iron-grilled door and subsequently creating an opening in the wooden door situated at the back of the house. The owner of the house, Radhika Milind Shirodkar, reported the incident and lodged a formal complaint with the police.

The authorities have registered an offence under Sections 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit an offence punishable with imprisonment), 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit the offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380 (theft in a dwelling house) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). PSI Viraj Dhauskar is leading the investigation, working under the guidance of PI Rahul Naik.
