PONDA: The Usgao locals may have welcomed the temporary repairs of the leaking and dilapidated PDA market at Tisk-Usgao, but they want the government to construct a new PDA market at the site with all facilities to meet growing needs of vendors and public.
It may be recalled that the three-decade-old PDA Market at Usgao has been in dilapidated condition for the past few years and vendors faced issues such as water leakage during monsoon besides there were incidents wherein the ceiling plaster would fall on shopkeepers. They were running their businesses in fear due to the market building’s dilapidated condition.

Nyaneshwar Naik, a shop owner at Tisk Usgao, said that this market was in a neglected state and in need of repairs. However, recently the repairs work has been carried out by the government. He felt that instead of repairing the dilapidated building, the government should build a new market with more facilities by demolishing the existing structure.
A local Suraj Garad said, “Finally after many years the government has repaired the market, but we need a permanent solution, a new market building with better facilities for fish and vegetable vendors.”
He said that Usgao locals have been demanding the construction of a new PDA market for a long time.
