VASCO: A 22-year-old youth sustained fractures, while a Pilar priest had a miraculous escape at Dabolim on Wednesday when a speeding Kadamba bus, attempting to overtake another vehicle, dashed against their Bolero jeep.
“As per information, Fr Laurence Fernandes from Pilar church was proceeding towards Pilar from Vasco in his jeep accompanied by Prakash Dung (22). When they reached near Matve-Dabolim, an oncoming Kadamba shuttle service bus overtaking other vehicles came on the wrong side and dashed the jeep. The impact was such that Dung sustained fractures while Fr Laurence miraculously escaped unhurt,” police told Herald.
Witnesses said the speeding KTC bus driver applied the brakes to avoid the accident but the bus began to skid off the road. Seeing the skidding bus, Fr Laurence took his vehicle off the road but the bus still dashed against the vehicle. A case has been registered against the bus driver.
