PANJIM: Top seed Ritviz Parab, Anirudh Bhat, M Barath, Ameya Audi, Deeptesh Karmalkar and Anant Prabhudesai are in the joint lead with three points each after the third round of Under-15 state selection chess tournament organized by Quepem Taluka Chess Association under the aegis of Goa Chess Association.

On the top board Ritviz Parab defeated Tatvesh Sawant in the Sicilian Grand Prix opening. Second seed Rohan Ahuja was held to a draw by Vageesh Tendulkar. Ameya Audi beat Mrinal Telang within 10 moves of the Scotch opening.
Rohan Ahuja, Kapil Pawse, Rajas Chari, Rahul Desai, Vageesh Tendulkar, Sahil Shetty and Saiesh Audi are on 2.5 points each.
Meanwhile in the girls section, top seed Gauri Hadkonkar, Aditee Prabhugaonkar, Sonali Kerkar, Urvi Bandekar and Aishwarya Thorat are in joint lead with two points each. Top seed Gauri Hadkonkar beat Reema Naik in the Queen’s Gambit Declined in 48 moves while Sonali Kerkar stunned Riddhi Zantye in the Sicilian Dragon in 62 moves.
Sakshi Naik Gaonkar and Gunjal Chopdekar are on 1.5 points each.
Nilesh Cabral, MLA was the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony. Subhash Naik, president QTCA, Sushant Vaidya, organizing secretary, Narayan Vasta, co-ordinator, Amrut Naik and Sushant Vaidya were among those present.
In all, 110 players including 87 in the open category and 23 in the girls category are participating.
