On the occasion, personalities from the taluka were felicitated by Rebello for their contribution to society. Those felicitated include Satosh Lolayekar, (electricty), Khushali Bhagat (artist), Natividade D’Sa (social worker), Donato Fernandes (tiatrist), Eknath Shabu Gaonkar, Babuso K Komarpant (farmer/fisherman), Govind Tuko Ghanekar, Mukund Bhaireli, Clemente George (musicians) and Dattaram Jiva Pagi.
Ex-Canacona MLA Vijay Poi Khot also spoke on the occasion, while Dy Chairperson Champa Pagui, present and former councillors and prominent citizens were present.
Sudhin Natu hoisted the tri-color, in the absence of Canacona MLA and Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, and inspected the Guard of Honour.
