Veteran journalist and Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune, Chandigarh, H K Dua is being considered for the post of Goa Governor, according to a report in a national daily. The term of Goa Governor S S Sidhu comes to an end in this month, and there is feverish speculation about who gets the post, as a large number of Congressmen are anxiously awaiting rehabilitation.
Apart from Goa, Raj Bhavans are falling vacant in Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tripura, Gujarat and Maharashtra, triggering a mad scramble among hopefuls who could not make in the first batch. Gujarat once more fell vacant last week, following the demise of Governor-designate Devendra Dwivedi.
Margaret Alva, H R Bharadwaj and Iqbal Singh were among All India Congress Committee members recently picked for gubernatorial assignments, following a Congress exercise to infuse fresh leadership in the government and the AICC.
